Walker Cup
Walker Cup is a big highlight for me as I have previously worked at one at Lytham St Annes, the golf and atmosphere is amazing. Also a few of the lads that I grew up at county and college with are playing in it this year!
United States beat Great Britain and Ireland 19-7 to regain the Walker Cup. The United States regained the Walker Cup from Great Britain and Ireland with a comprehensive 19-7 victory at the Los Angeles Country Club. Great Britain and Ireland trailed by four points heading into the second and final day and the Americans eased themselves into an 11-5 lead and within two-and-a-half points of victory after winning the morning foursomes 3-1.
The hosts duly wrapped up victory, surrendering just one-and-a-half points in the 10 singles matches in the afternoon.
This weekend the guys competed at one of the most picturesque golf courses ever, Crans Montana in Switzerland, with the golf being as stunning as the views. Matt Fitzpatrick admitted he thought his hopes of Omega European Masters victory may have been over before he snatched his playoff win in Switzerland. Fitzpatrick claimed his fourth European Tour title in dramatic fashion at Crans-sur-Sierre, firing a six-under 64 and then seeing off Scott Hend at the third extra playoff hole. The Englishman was four shots off the pace heading into the final round, where he briefly held a two-stroke lead until a penultimate-hole bogey saw him finish alongside Hend on 14-under.
