Hunley’s Weekly Highlight
I am delighted to announce that we will be re-naming the hole ‘Winney Bank’ as ‘Brownies Bough’ after the late Gordon Brown. Gordon was a founder member, former Club Captain in 2006 and Club Secretary for over 20 years.
The idea was put forward by Hunley member and Gordon’s good friend, Peter Metcalfe. The name was chosen by Gordon’s wife, Vanessa and son, Will. Gordon, to everyone, even his family, was known as BROWNIE. Winney Bank was a problem for Gordon who’s drive was a severe slice and so he, as a right-hander, had to aim at the trees on the left to ensure he hit the fairway and obviously ‘BOUGH’ alludes to this.
The scorecards have been changed and will be put in play over the coming months. The sign on the tee box of Brownies Bough will also be changed in due course.
Thank you
