Webb Simpson returned to the golfing stage with an emphatic win at TPC Sawgrass. Know as golfs 5th major, Sawgrass features some of the most iconic holes, namely the 17th postage stamp par three. Despite being possibly one of the most difficult courses in the world, Webb Simpson left the field in his wake as he stormed to a 4 shot win.
Dustin Johnson ripped up the course on day one with a impressive -6 with Tiger Woods and Rory Mcilroy a few shots back after the days play. Rory Mcilroy struggled on day 2 and subsequently posted +3 and missed the cut line. Tiger Woods faired a little better, posting an even par round on day 2. Day 2 was moving day for Webb Simpson as he posted an absolutely sensational round and equalled the course record of -9. Webb had a chance to hold the record outright but he fell victim to the difficult 17th hole where he scored a 4 after his ball fell short into the water. Day 3 saw a huge move by Tiger Woods who looked back to his best on the final 2 days. He posted a -7 round with just one bogey on the card, rising from the cut line to 10th it sae a huge move up the leaderboard. Webb did very well on day 3 with a huge lead he managed to hold his nerve and with a massive bunker shot Webb holded his 3rd shot on the par 5. To open up a 10 shot lead. He took a 7 shot lead into the last day and despite a double bogey at the last hole, Webb cruised to victory, could this be a return to the form that saw him with the US Open?
