Greenkeeping Update With Greg 25/9/18

Good progress is now being made on the new green complex on Rawcliffe. Both bunkers by the green are constructed and the general shaping around the green is also nearly complete.
The green itself still needs around 150 tons of rootzone distributing across the area ready to be shaped, giving the final contouring.
The first of 3 fairway bunkers have been added and we shall be filling in and turfing the old ones in the next week hopefully.
Rescue treatments have gone well with nearly all fairways sprayed and around a third of the rough, with the most problematic areas prioritised. There are now signs of the grasses beginning to wilt and as the rescue begins to take effect the turf will look quite sick. As the Ryegrass and Yorkshire Fog die away though, the other grasses should pick up and over the coming months fill the spaces left behind.
The remaining poorly positioned winter tee boxes are set to be moved this week and it is then intended for the course to be measured. This will give a course for winter qualifying competitions where required.
Finally I am happy to host a course walk at the end of October over the weekend of the 27th & 28th. Anyone that would like to come with specific questions, then this would be a perfect opportunity. If you’d just like to come along to gain an insight into what we do and hear detailed reasoning behind all decisions made regarding the course, then please email me at [email protected] to confirm your intention to attend.
With sufficient numbers interested, I shall confirm a time and date in due course.
