Merit Table Results
On Sunday our Winter Merit Table was played. There was some great scoring in nice conditions.
Paul Winspear won with a great score of 45 points. Paul Forrest was runner up with 43 points beating Trevor Allison on Countback.
Al Greensmith won the Nearest the Pin on Grays Tor.
Qualifying Competitions in Winter
During the Winter Period, we will endeavor to play as many qualifying competitions as possible.
As per the CONGU Unified Handicapping System, there are 2 rules which stipulate when a qualifying competition cannot be played.
1. The Golf Course is shortened or increased by more than 100 yards
2. 2 or more Temporary Greens are in Play
Neither of us these rules apply at Hunley as Our courses have been measured off the Winter tees and allocated a dedicated Standard Scratch score which reflects the shorter playing length and Temporary Greens are not in use.
On Sunday a Non-Qualifier was played, 10 players from 43 shot 39 points or better (39 points being level off the revised SSS). This shows that the course is more than fair and good scoring can be achieved.
Common sense will be used when deciding whether a qualifier will be played. But, as previously said, we will try to follow CONGU Rules and the Rules of Golf wherever possible.
