Greenkeeping Update with Greg 23/10/2017

Work carried out on Metcalfe's Ace last week is almost complete, with new tees prepared and turfed. Turf taken from the old tees has been reused and although looks a little bit untidy currently, will be perfectly acceptable once the turf has had chance to root and become established. When the time comes for the tees to be introduced to play they should be in excellent condition.

Last week the team completed work on the Morgans greens. Obviously they will need some time to recover and this will be dictated by the weather. The most important thing though at this time is that the work has been a success and going forwards the greens will continue to improve both botanically in terms of the grass species and also performance wise.

Greenkeeping Update with Greg 9/10/2017

Last week, work centred on the front 9 of Morgans, with hollow tining, overseeding and top dressing of the greens. This is very disruptive work and has left the greens very uneven. This work is hugely important for the health of the turf but also in regards to the continual improvements that we are trying to achieve. A further positive from our perspective is that such aggressive work is only necessary every several years compared to many courses that carry out this type of renovation at least every year and in many cases even more often.
