Work carried out on Metcalfe’s Ace last week is almost complete, with new tees prepared and turfed. Turf taken from the old tees has been reused and although looks a little bit untidy currently, will be perfectly acceptable once the turf has had chance to root and become established. When the time comes for the tees to be introduced to play they should be in excellent condition.
Seed has begun to come through on the renovated greens on the Morgan’s course and we have the warm weather to thank for that over recent weeks. Protecting those seedlings is now of primary importance and we will be doing so by causing them minimal disturbance.
This week we will need to carry out some mowing to fairways, semi rough and approaches as growth is still pretty strong. The winter program of work will continue but weather conditions will dictate what work can be achieved.
On Thursday I will be at Hunley from 6 pm to discuss with you the proposed removal of the Millennium course. Having been able to compile a good list of the pro’s and con’s so far, I’m looking forward to some good discussions with you to help make a decision on the best course of action.
If you could email me on [email protected] to confirm your attendance it would be very much appreciated.
Have a good week and see you on Thursday should you wish to be involved.
