Divots & Pitch Marks
I would first of all like to apologise about starting the Newsletter off with a moan, but I had it brought to my attention yesterday by many people that the divots and pitch marks on the golf course were in a poor state.
Unfortunately this can only have been from members playing in the 2nd round of the Brown Trophy and this is why I am addressing it in the Newsletter.
It is common etiquette to replace all divots and repair all pitch marks on the course. This is to repair the greens and fairways so the quality is kept to a good standard throughout the year.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Brown Trophy Result
The Final 2 Day competition of the year, the Brown Trophy, was played in wet and windy conditions!
After 2 Days of Stableford, Scott Oglesby became your Brown Trophy Champion with two brilliant rounds of 42 points and 40 points. Dennis Skelton was runner up with 42 and 36 points.
All results can be seen in the Locker Room.
Pearson Trophy this Saturday
The Pearson Trophy is one of our major fixtures in the calendar!
Entry Procedure: Only Rabbits (Handicaps of 16 and above on the 1st April) are allowed to enter.
The format for the Pearson Trophy is an 18 holes full handicap singles stableford. The entry fee is £3, which is payable on the day. The Pearson Trophy is open to members who have held a playing handicap of 16 or more on 1st April to the date of play.
Entry is now open and you can enter online. If you have entered 8 events or more in the Tuesday night series, you get free entry into this competition!
Tee times are from 7:00 am with the last one being 10:52 am.
There is a swindle available to play in between 9 and 10am on Saturday. Please write your name on the Swindle Sheet in the Locker Room. Entry for the Pearson Trophy can be added either side of this.
Flexible members are unable to enter this competition.
Veterans Cup this Sunday
Veteran’s Cup competitors must be 55 years of age and over with any handicap. Over 55’s must put a ‘V’ on their scorecard to indicate they are taking part in the Veteran’s Cup.
A Stableford competition will be run alongside this Competition for non-Veteran’s (Under 55)
Bookings are open from 07.00 until 10.30 and entry will be £3.
The format will be a Stableford for all players.
Lucy Departs Hunley
We would like to inform you that Lucy Burke, Golf Assistant, will no longer be working with us. I would like to thank Lucy for all her hard work and I wish her well for the future.
Mobile Phones on the Golf Course
Please can I remind all golfers that it is poor etiquette to be seen on your mobile phone on the golf course.
In addition, checking the scores during a competition is frowned upon as it may be deemed as cheating or in some way protecting your handicap.
Cook Shield Entry Open
Entry will be in the Pro Shop. Both names are to be put down on sign-up along with £20 cash (£10 per man) which covers entry throughout the year.
The format is a 4ball better-ball medal (90% handicap allowance) meaning you play with same partner throughout the competition. If you would like to be paired with a partner, please put your name on the ‘looking for a partner sheet’ in the locker room or let a member of the Hunley Golf Team know and we will try to pair you up with a fellow member.
