History made this week in the Ladies European Tour!
Atthaya Thitikul, aged 14 became the youngest winner on the Ladies European Tour. The teenage amateur produced a level-par 72 on Sunday to finish the week on five under par – two strokes clear of nearest challenger Ana Menendez. I think I had only just picked up a golf club when I was 14! Impressive stuff from the young lady!
This week the European headed over the Portstewart for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. After the host Rory Mcilroy missed the cut for the 4th year out 5, it opened to title to the rest of the field. Rahm was the man! After making his second appearance after joining the European tour, a 7 under 65 in heavy rain to secure a 6 shot clear win!
Success for other golfers this weekend included qualifying for the Open Championship, these included Richie Ramsey, Ryan Fox and David Drysdale. Drysdale birdied his last 6 holes to shot a new course record of 63 and qualify, what a day!
With the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in a few weeks (16th-23rd July) who is looking good to claim the next major?
