I think the professional golf we can talk about this weekend is the Hunley Club Championships. What a weekend!
Firstly I would like to say that the standard of the golf was due to the excellent condition of the golf course, it looked and played outstanding! Thank you to Greg and the Greenkeepers for the top standards for the weekend and the season!
The weekend was always going to have its drama for everyone involved, especially speaking from my performance over the weekend. The ladies championships included the first ever playoff, with myself and Julie both finishing with 176 gross, at which Julie Hogan was the winner after 4 extra holes. After playing with Julie all weekend, I can say that she was the deserving winner and played class golf throughout.
Joseph Quaich (12.5-24) was won by Dot Smelt with 181 gross.
Leng Trophy (25-36) was won by Lorraine Pearson with a 210 gross.
Retaining in style was young Michael Hay with a stunning 72- 1 under on the Saturday, which in the conditions was very top golf played. With a solid Sunday 78, Michael took the trophy by 11 shots. With Elliot Duck posting a 77 Sunday to take second place.
Brymor Trophy (11-17) was won by John E Dean with a 170 gross with David Rhodes a close second with 177.
Rabbits Quaich (18-28) was won by Les Morrison with a gross 189 with Dean Richards second with 192.
An emotional weekend, well it was for me anyway! But thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved, top golf from top members! Well done to everyone that played.
Bring on Club Championships 2018!
