Struggling with pitching?
Pitching is a very important part of the game. It’s unlikely you’ll hit every green in a round of golf, therefore you have to rely on your short game to keep that scorecard looking its best.
When teaching I tend to find that there is an excess usage of the wrists when striking the ball.
I will now explain how I recommend to pitch and how this is going to help your game.
Hinge and hold – When you take your backswing you have to set your wrists, this is going to help create a clean strike. Now, when you strike the ball, you have to maintain the hinge and turn your body to the ball. This is the first step in taking the wrists out of pitching.
High to Low – This part is very important. ‘High to low’ is a concept I created to help strike the ball first. The idea is to get the club head high in the back swing (while keeping hands low) and the club head finishes low after impact. This will create a nice downward strike, making clean contact and creating better golf shots!

Have a great week.
