Golf News
This week attention turned to Innesbrook where Tiger Woods made a return after 2 weeks off at the Valspar Championship. As you can imagine, Tiger stole all the headlines prior to the championship starting and his performance over the week will leave all the fans speculating whether he will get that all elusive major.
Tiger Woods was superb and found himself with a great chance of claiming his first victory in 5 years.
Justin Rose was in the final pairing after improving on his disappointing week last week. Justin was looking to win for a staggering 4th time in 10 starts after victories in China, Indonesia and Turkey.
USA rookie Corrie Connors was leading the championship from the first day and was looking to secure a wire to wire victory. However, he struggled with the weight of leading the championship on the final day and when everyone around him was making birdies at the first hole he made a bogey to drop behind the leading pack.
All is not well for Rory Mcilroy who slipped to a very disappointing +5 and failed to miss the cut after day 2. He will need to find the form he showed 2 years ago when he was world number 1 quickly otherwise the final major he is chasing may just pass him by at Augusta.
The Valspar Championship was won by Paul Casey, who won for the first time in 150 appearances. This is very good news for our Ryder cup team as Paul looks in magnificent form… let’s hope he can continue to show this in months to come.
