England’s Chris Wood narrowly missed out on victory in Oman as he was held off by Joost Luiten by 2 shots. The Ryder cup hopeful was level with Luiten with 9 holes to play but a bogey at the 17th hole proved very costly as he went on to narrowly miss out. However, after missing the last 3 cuts to start the year, Wood will be hoping this is the start of a good spell to work his way into Thomas Bjorn’s selection for the Ryder Cup in 2018.
There was more positive news for our Ryder Cup hopefuls with Graeme McDowell flying the flag high in America for the Europeans. He was winning after day 2 however he found himself 2 shots off the lead which was held by Bubba Watson after day 3. An awful final round of +6 saw Graeme finish in 26 place.
Tiger Woods crashed out and didn’t make the cut with a second round +5, his partner for the day, Rory Mcilroy struggled on the putting green again and finished on a score of -3.
The winner of the Genesis Open was Bubba Watson who finished on a score of -12. Kevin Na finished in 2nd position after a good final score of -10
