What a finish to the Fed Ex cup!
Justin Rose was comfortable favourite to secure the overall title coming into the final competition and knowing a top 5 finish would make him champion regardless of what anyone else did.
Other contenders such as Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy faded towards the end.
After 3 rounds at East Lake, Tiger Woods was winning on -12, with Rory McIlroy in 2nd and Justin Rose in 3rd both on -9. An unbelievable start in the final day Tiger Saw him stretch his lead to 5 shots after an opening birdie. Tiger hovered around the -13 mark while all other players struggled to make up any ground on him. All the build up to an amazing final pairing with Rory McIlroy fell flat as the Northern Irishman shot a 4 over 74 to finish well down the leaderboard. With one hole to go it looked like Justin Rose had blown his chances of winning the Fed Ex but like all champions do he didn’t give up, he dug deep to get the ball up and down at the last for birdie to move himself up to 4th and secure that huge 10 Million dollar prize. He has been without doubt the most consistent player on tour for the last year so deserved to win. Amazing scenes then followed as Tiger played the final hole knowing that even a bogey would secure the win. His first in over 5 years and shows how far he has come in such little time. An incredible story considering his world ranking in November last year was 1,193 and he is now into the top 10 in the world, simply remarkable. This makes for a very interesting Ryder with Phil Mickelson finishing in last place shooting a terrible +14 over the 4 days. Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed were not too far in front. Bryson improved on the last day but does look to be battling his game somewhat.
With only 3 days to go, who will win?
This could be the greatest Ryder Cup of all time, one thing is for sure there will be some amazing golf played!!!
